Bills must be out of their house of origin by Friday afternoon. There are quite a few bills waiting to be heard in committee. The Legislature has started the budget process reviewing each agency budget and entertaining amendments. There is only about a $69 million surplus this year, so additions to the budget will be very minimal.
H.B. 82, the bill to extend the program to pay hospitals for unreimbursed trauma care was introduced and is being heard in House Labor Committee.
A proposal is moving forward, H.B. 38 Medicaid Provider Reimbursements, to direct the Department of Health to establish a new reimbursement schedule for providers of Medicaid services. Reimbursement schedules would be reviewed in conjunction with the biennial budget every two years. Evidently, some service reimbursement schedules have gone years without being updated. The bill has passed the House and will now be considered by Senate Labor Committee.
