Scholarship Guidelines

Scholarship Definition

The WYSRC Board will present funds to the selected RT Student with the intent to support educational expenses. The funds are designed to assist the RT student with the cost of tuition, books and/or other educational fees required in their respiratory therapy program. Scholarships are available for first-year and second-year students. Scholars are to be selected on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis.

Award Amounts
  • Scholarship for a selected first year student will be in the amount of $750.
  • Scholarship for a selected second year student will be in the amount of $1,000.
Scholarship Criteria:
  • Must currently be enrolled in a Respiratory Therapy program in the state of Wyoming that is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC)
  • Must apply for Student AARC Membership
  • Must include a letter of recommendation
  • Must maintain a GPA of 3.0
  • The student must demonstrate personal motivation for excellence in both character and academic achievement.
  • Personal integrity, leadership skills, and concern for others will all be considered
  • A completed application and PowerPoint presentation must be submitted by the first Friday in September for adequate time to review applicants.
    • The presentation must include the student’s respiratory career plan including short term goals and their 5-year plan.
    • It should also explain why they chose the direction of their 5-year plan
  • Presentation:
    • The student who is selected to receive this scholarship will be required to present their presentation in person to the WYSRC Board during their lunch meeting on the last day of Fall conference.
      • They will be informed on the first day of the Fall conference to have time to prepare, if necessary.
